It’s finally spring! With that happy thought in mind, I pulled my camera out this afternoon and went in search of the new things happening around the farm – A pen being built, kittens being born (lots and lots of kittens!), and the fruit trees in full bloom.
Here’s one of the two litters of kittens! There were six babies from this little momma. All colors too – Orange, light orange, dark gray tabbies, and a soft gray one too.
I didn’t take a picture of the other litter – Their momma has them safely tucked away inside an old vehicle down by the river. Six of them were black and there was one little gray guy in there!
With springtime comes… Not more naps, but actually less naps with all the stuff that can be done outside! (I guess Deacon didn’t get the memo?!)
Here’s the new pen that was built today – Big enough that the chickens will stay in it (most of the time they will!) and also big enough to enclose the entire lilac bush. This will give our feathered friends something to scratch around in while they’re in the pen.
Here’s our pretty little peach tree! The other night it was supposed to freeze so a couple of us went outside with some old sheets and wrapped up the little thing carefully – I guess it worked because it’s still got lots of blooms on it!
Then we have our Granny Smith tree. (For a super yummy recipe where I used apples from this tree, check out {Baked} Apple-Crisp Stuffed Apples)
Around our house we have several wild plum thickets, this picture being taken of one of them. I’ve always wanted to make wild plum jelly using the recipe from my great grandma, but never had the courage to tackle it yet. Maybe I’ll have to give it a go sometime soon!
And our parting picture – The backside of a bee. I know, it just made your day!
Enjoy looking around at all of the wonders of spring surrounding you!
