Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
To get started, you’ll need to make the Dulce De Leche substitute if you have none on hand. Pour one can of sweetened condensed milk into a microwave safe bowl and microwave at 50% power for 4 minutes. Stirring once or twice. After the 4 minutes are up, turn the power down to 30% and microwave for another 8 – 12 minutes, keeping a very close eye on it and stirring often.
In another bowl, you can melt your butter for the chocolate substitute.
Stir in the cocoa..
And keep stirring…
Until it’s smooth with no lumps and looks like this! Now set this aside.
In a stand mixer’s bowl, combine together the butter and sugar. Beat until smooth and starting to get fluffy. Add in your eggs, one at a time, mixing in between each addition.
Once your batter is smooth again and all of the eggs are mixed in, stir in your chocolate (cocoa + butter).
I will give you a warning here.. To me, this is the best part of making these brownies! I would rather eat it right here than after they’re baked.
Now stir in your flour..
And you’re done! Grab a spoon and a glass of milk, and dig in.
Store in the fridge and enjoy!
. . . . . . .
Just kidding.
We aren’t done yet!
Pour your batter into a greased 8 x 8 or 8 x 10 inch pan.
Smooth it out and go find your Dulce De Leche (or the milk substitute we made earlier).
Drop by dollops all over the batter. I used almost all of it, but you can decide if you like a little more or less!
Now for my second favorite part.. Using a butter knife, swirl it through the batter and caramel to make a pattern.. Or don’t! Just do whatever floats your boat.
Now bake in a 325 degree oven for 45 – 60 minutes, or until firm and the center doesn’t jiggle much. You’ll want there to still be some softness, as this gives it the fudgy texture that makes them so delicious.
Let cool for 10 to 15 minutes or so, and then cut and serve.
Enjoy!
