In the past month, a lot of things have happened around our place. Since it seems like the animal kingdom has decided that June was the month for babies, I thought I would share a few of the most recent additions with y’all!
The goslings from about two different nests have hatched. One nest produced two goslings and the other seven.
Now when you step outside the front door, you’re sure to either hear or see a group of five geese wandering around with about nine little, yellow things bobbing in the grass behind them! It’s fun to watch them in semi-tall grass – You see little fluffs of yellow fuzz trailing after the big geese!
But, of course, the farm wouldn’t be complete without a nest or two of turkey eggs. The funny thing about this nest is… Well, I’d better just let you see for yourself!
Yep. ‘Fraid so, they weren’t all turkey eggs! Somehow, some duck eggs got mixed into the batch and incubated right alongside their turkey brothers and sisters. So… What are they exactly?? Tucks? Durkeys? I have no idea. No one in that little family has realized they got slipped some waterfowl yet. Just wait till some of the kids run head-first into the pond while the mothers are left behind freaking out on the bank! Then it might come to them…. Maybe..
While I can’t say we have gotten more kittens, I can say the ones I’ve shared previously are growing like little weeds! Since it has been pretty hot the past week or so, you usually won’t find them unless you look under the old cages, the mower, or the diesel barrels. It seems like they sleep 23 out of the 24 hours in a day!
See what I mean? They’re always either asleep or ready to go to sleep!
Hope you have a fantastic day!
Ashleigh
