Selfies are quite popular. People have tablets, phones, and iPods that they like to take pictures of themselves with. There’s even selfie sticks for group photos.
I had a thought; if God took a selfie, what would it look like?
Some people might think that a glimpse of God might look something like this:
Or maybe this:
But what does God really look like? Let’s take a look in the Bible to get some ideas!
In Genesis 1:26a, it says, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image according to Our likeness…’ ” So people were made in God’s image.
In Exodus 3:20 it says: “But He [God] said, ‘You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.’ ” So, this tells us that God’s glory is so great that if we saw Him, we’d die, to put it bluntly.
And then there’s the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All the same, yet all different. Confusing, isn’t it? It still confuses me, even after studying it!
There’s lots of other scripture references, but I’m not going to go into all of them. Have you found other verses about what God looks like? Let me know in the comments!
So what would a God selfie look like? No one knows, but I’ll find out someday, and you will too, I hope!
