Alrighty, so I figured that it’s about time (actually, it’s past time!) that I posted an update to “The Project” (sounds so catchy!). So, in the new room, it’s be insulated, had the sheet-rock put up, been painted, the ceiling put up, and now they’re trimming. So here’s a little snippet of how it’s looked in the past several weeks:
Here’s a snap of after the siding was put on. You can see the right side didn’t have the siding in this pic (It was put on in the next day or so after this was taken). I really should go out and get an updated picture to put on here, but it’s hot out. And I’m rooted to this chair. So I think we’ll just live with an old picture!
This was what it looked like on the inside around the same time as the first picture. See that window and door? They’re going bye-bye!!
This wonderfully, amazing bookcase got put in a second-hand home… It’s where the window used to be.
This picture represents something more than just a house under construction.. It represents heat. Lots of heat. It represents people moving to and living in the basement (except for when it comes to meal-times). This picture shows the “wall” in between the main house and the new room. Just a sheet of plastic taped up there for now as the old wall had to be broke out. You can see the foam insulation was already up in this picture and some of sheet-rock was on too.
Here’s how it looked after all of the sheet-rock was up and mudding was done. Guess what that means… Yep, that means it’s time for us to paint.. Oh boy!
Here’s how it looked after painting…
And here’s how the new room looked a couple of evenings ago. The wood ceiling was all up and the guys were working on the gable ends.
Here’s the ends after they were finished today! Pretty, huh?
And here’s the “parallam beam”. (That big, long thingie that’s running horizontally through the picture.) The right side shows what it looks like after being boxed in with the pine boards and the left side shows it before being boxed in.
So that pretty much sums up what’s been happening recently! Between plastic walls, hot summer days and all the other little things happening, the days haven’t been boring and I highly doubt they will be for the next few months!
