Planning just recently became something I started taking seriously. For a long time, I’ve made lists of things and had a little pocket planner, but I never really took the time to make notes and put down different things happening – Until a few months ago!
I found a really nice planner system (The Staples Arc System and pages from Jane’s Agenda on Etsy) because I knew the upcoming months/years were going to get busy and it was past time for me to start keeping track of everything in one place! Boy am I glad I did – I’m forever checking back to the calendar in there to make sure that this day is free or this time; it’s so frustrating when you make an appointment with someone (basing it off not remembering anything happening that day) and you end up calling them back to reschedule!
Not any more!
Okay, that’s kinda extreme. I may have the planner, but I still goof up sometimes!
So not only do I find my planner extremely functional (and necessary), but I also have this side of me that still loves…. Wait for it… *Stickers*
I know, stickers are for kids.. But can I let you in on a little secret? They’re not! (We’re all still kids at heart, right?) There are entire stores on Etsy (hundreds of them) that have thousands of sticker products for adults – And something even crazier? They sell them! To people like myself!
(I use the Green Southwest Sizzle themed Washi tape, just in case you wondered! It’s a set of 5 rolls you can find on Amazon!)
The latest in this grown-up sticker trend – Washi tape. Now Washi tape is more of a patterned tape than it is a sticker, but you can make stickers out of it! Let me show you some of the crazy fun ways kinds of Washi tape out there first:

Find one you like? I’m sure you did!
Now it’s time to show you a few ways to use it:
You can always try putting words on your more basic tapes, just simply print off the words in the fonts you want and lay the tape over them. Pull it off and voila! (Click picture for link to directions on A Girl and A Glue Gun)
One of my favorite ideas when it comes to adding some color to your planner is to make the “weekend party chain”. It’s just three little triangles of tape with a line drawn above them in your favorite pen color to connect them. Perfect!
Underneath that you can add a “weekend banner”. Just simply cut a piece of tape off. cut out a small triangle on either end of the tape and write “weekend” on it – Super simple and quite cute!
This is pretty much the same idea – Just making a little banner and sticking it here or there… Maybe add a triangle in the corner of one day!
And here’s our inspiring quote for the month. I have plenty of extra note space in my planner, so I like to throw in a quote here or there to help motivate sometimes!
I’ll add a few easy little page flags in my planner if there’s an important date I need to remember or just if there’s a bare spot!
And of course I like to add a few strips of tape in the empty “note” areas, just so they don’t look so white and plain, and maybe add a couple more quotes and we’re done!
I’ve looked at a lot of planners and have come to find many of them are “cluttered” looking. There isn’t a dot of white space and everything is packed with stickers or markings… While this may work for some people, I like to keep a little bit of open area. It doesn’t look too full and I feel like I can take a nice breath when I look at it!
I’m still adding to my planner in this never ending new hobby, so if you have some more ideas, I’d love to hear from you! Please drop me a note in the comments below!

This is great! I only just discovered the joy of planners in the last couple of weeks and I’ve fallen head over heels in love. But I’ve had the hardest time finding washi tapes! So thank you very much for sharing these excellent links!
