In the past few days, I’ve been able to ride with friends while they were cutting corn. Most of the time, I was riding in a grain truck, but I did manage to hitch a ride in the combine once. Here are a few of my favorite pics from this corn harvest:
The first day I rode, it started to sprinkle right as I got dropped at the field. It would have been fine if it would have sprinkled a bit and then quit, but it didn’t…
It got a little heavier than just sprinkles. At this point, I was planning to kiss any more cutting/riding along good-bye, but we checked out a different field and it was dry! So we ended up cutting the rest of the day.
Like I said, most all of my pictures were from what I could see in my seat in the truck. But….
I did manage to grab a ride in the combine! This was one of the pics I took while in there. See those little black thingies? Those are what I kept referring to as the “fingers” (Yep, I know that’s not quite the right name. But that’s ok!). Those little babies about put me to sleep more than once…
Here’s a picture from one of the 9374 times that the grain-cart dumped onto our truck.
Maybe I did get a little carried away. It only seemed like 9374 times.
It was actually only 8790 times that it dumped..
Really, I’m quite sure now.
One thing you could be sure of – Whenever you saw the grain cart coming, that meant that the time to unload wasn’t far away – Be it in town or at home!
