I’m sad to say I’m a bit behind the times.. The last day of harvest was well over a week ago I believe.. Maybe even close to two weeks ago, and here I’m just getting around to posting about it!? Something’s not quite right with that picture!
Oh well, I’m sharing today a few pictures I took on the last day and also…
Something that I did.
Why?
I’m not entirely sure myself! Why I’m sharing or why I did it!
But I’ll save that until the end. First, we must discuss more important matters. Corn harvest. The very last day of it. For the entire year.
I know, kinda sad..
I got to ride in the combine right at the end when the last little patch of corn was cut. Don’t judge, please… But there may have been some tears shed!
Just a few..
No major bawling or anything!
Here’s the combine, leaving one of the last couple of fields…
And a picture I snapped and shared on Instagram of the Peterbilt! (I thought it looked kinda sharp with the black and white!)
Then the line-up they’ve been doing of the equipment at the end of harvest – The Pete, combine, tractor and grain-cart, and then the Kenworth.
Now here’s the interesting part of it.. I’ve gotten a name recently, Jinx is what they call me. (Not that there’s a reason for this!) For some reason, they started calling me it again after this.
It’s the last day of harvest – It’s gone well, equipment is back in the yard and we’re just cleaning it up.
You would think there wasn’t really any chance of my messing something up at this point, right? Right.
Can you tell what that is up there in the picture?
It’s a piece of wire trying to reach the little unlock popper.. (There’s a name for it. I know there is.. But at the moment I can’t recall what it is and Google doesn’t seem to have any answers for “door lock popper”. Wonder why???)
The reason behind all this?
“Oh, no biggie. They were just looking for something fun to do and thought they’d go lay on top of a pick-up, pry the door open and stick a piece of wire in it.”
Ha ha… Nope, ‘fraid not.
Acutally I was the cause of all that excitment! (And the need for a little touch-up paint afterwards!) You see, I got out of the truck with the doors locked and shut the door real quietly, trying to be sneaky about the fact I was getting out of it. I didn’t get it shut all the way and when I turned around to shut it again, I found it was locked!
Thankfully though, the door was open a little (not totally latched shut), a wire was stuck in and they managed to get it unlocked. So I guess it’s okay now and we can all forget that little incident even happened!
Right?
Right.
Hopefully you’re having a great day!

A memorable way to end the harvest! Days go by in a blur. No apologies necessary. Especially when blog posts are forever and seen all over the world. It is just nice to get glimpses into your world and reflections.
