A week or so ago, I got to ride along out in the Flint Hills to check some cattle that had been turned out not long before. There were storm clouds boiling up and hovering over the plains, the grass was turning a beautiful shade of green and we were dodging some little (and not so little!) puddles thanks to the rains we’ve had recently!
Here’s some of the clouds we had right above us – I love the dark blue color at the bottom of them and then how they spread out and covered miles and miles of land!
On a couple of fourwheelers, we’d ride up to the cattle and start counting.
Most of them time we came up with the same numbers.. Most of the time that is!
This guy was a little unsure about those two-legged creatures on loud things that move and rumble!
But all in all we had a friendly reception. Some of them held fairly still while we counted.. Others tended to head in a different direction at a rather rapid pace.
Time to go to the next pasture – Bye guys!
