I wasn’t sure what to title this post.
Meeting of the birds?
Meeting of the minds?
Meeting of the feathers?
Meeting of the turkeys?
I give up! Maybe I should just go ahead and tell you what I’m even talking about…
I’m talking about this:
See, the turkeys on the right – Those are our domestic Bourbon Reds. The ones on the left? Those are wild turkeys! I was told there were wild turkeys right before I stepped outside this morning and had to grab my camera after I saw these guys outside the pen mingling together.
You can see two of the toms in the center of the picture (one ours and the other wild) were pressing themselves up against the pen. I’m not sure what their goal was in this!
Yes, we know you think you’re hot stuff!
Thankfully, none of our turkeys have actually left to be with the wild ones. They mingle for awhile (even when they aren’t in their pen) and then go their separate ways.
After spending awhile together, the wild turkeys finally left and headed down to the field in front of the pasture. They came back later this afternoon for a little bit, so I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of them!
