Christmas is over, it’s past the first of the year, and my green thumb is starting to wake up.
Not that it hasn’t been awake.. I have a whole window full of succulents and violets that have been tiding be over throughout the winter until our warm Kansas sunshine shows up again!
But I mean it’s really waking up and starting to stretch. It wants to get outside and dig in the dirt..
Which is actually rather cold and frozen right now..
So to control that?
I’m sharing a list of homesteading, gardening and poultry catalogs!
And the best part about it? They’re all FREE! You can learn so much from going through a catalog. I sometimes do it just to relax for awhile and dream about my imaginary garden. Full of about everything under the sun and no bindweed. Ha! What a laugh, right??
So here’s what I have found for some of the best free catalogs out there (and some websites I just had to share too!)
Homesteading Catalogs:
Lehman’s (Personal favorite – Amazing company!)
Mountain Feed Supply – No catalog
Smith and Speed Mercantile – No catalog
Homestead General Store – Catalog download
Light Livestock Equipment & Supply
Urban Homestead Supply & Farmstand – No catalog
Grow Organic – Many catalogs! Print and download versions.
Gardening Catalogs:
Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds – Rare Seeds
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange
Poultry Catalogs:
Randall Burkey – No actual poultry, but everything related!
Stromberg’s – Personal favorite! Always had good birds/products from them.
Ridgeway Hatcheries, Inc. – Online catalog.
Country Hatchery Inc. – Old fashioned and a pleasure to look through site. No print catalog.
Sand Hill Heirloom Seeds & Poultry Preservation Center – Online catalog.
Moyor’s Chicks – Online catalog.
Metzer Farms – Online PDF and Print catalogs available.
Purely Poultry – No catalog.
Lastly, I wanted to share an interesting article I happened upon – The Ohio National: A Real Life Poultry Catalog.
So I hope you found something that satisfied your “itchings” during these long winter months. I’m dying to go order some new seeds and chicks now.. But probably better hold off!
Enjoy!

I just wanted to add that Stark Brothers is a great place for trees and bushes also seeds. They also help you with zoning and you can choose to only show what you can plant in your zone.
